Maternity Clothes Have Come A Long Way, Baby

I can’t even believe how cool maternity clothes are today. My first pregnancy began in February 2004 and it took me about 5 months to actually start showing. I remember hating most of the maternity clothes because they were so dull and frumpy. Did I mention frumpy?  The cool maternity clothes were only at A Pea in the Pod. Luckily for preggo ladies today, that is NOT the case.

There are so many fashionable maternity collections to choose from right now. I just blogged about Heidi Klum’s latest endeavor, Lavish, on Droolicious. Just browse the clothes at Isabella Oliver or Mommy Appelseed. They are so hip! Take a look at the links below and see a few of my faves. Rock that baby bump, girls!

Shoe Shopping: Baby Feet Deserve Pediped

pediped

We bought our first pair of Pediped shoes last week and now I know what all of the fuss is about. These shoes are awesome! We opted for the ‘Conner’ style featuring a canvas upper and rubber toe caps. He can certainly tear up the playground in these.

Pediped is approved by the American Pediatric Medical Association  for contributing healthy foot development in children.  The Flex Fit System is really helpful and the price is right – $34. We chose Navy and Olive and they go with everything. Great for warm weather too – if we ever get it. 😉  Happy running, jumping & playing!

Baby Girl: Snowflakey & Sweaterrific

This season, Gymboree has a great black & white winter collection for kids. It features a bunch of traditional pieces with a twist, including lots of knits.

These clothes are on sale now. This is one of my favorites, the Snowflake Hooded Sweater Vest with the Pom Pom Sweater Skirt. Seriously, how cute is this? Shop Gymboree. The vest retails for $28 and the skirt retails for $24.

My Apologies to Peep Toe Ankle Boots

I happily ragged on all forms of the peep toe ankle boot not too long ago. You can read my rantings in this post here. My friends and I shared a few good laughs about the Gucci-loving, Versace-wearing, Kardashian-embracing divas strutting around Lake Austin in those freaky flops.

Fall has brought with it some gorgeous boots and I’ve had time to adjust to this open-toe trend and … I’m liking it. The Deva by Louboutin, the Bootie by Weitzman, the Slouch from Anya. And me being the irony-loving weirdo I am, now own a pair of Peep Toe Mesh Ankle Boots. Yes, that’s right folks – I’m a liar and a fraud. I don’t love every style and I still think some of them look atrocious, but they’ve grown on me over time. (Kinda like bad wine or your husband.)

Reversible Smock Dress: Double The Cuteness

reversible-dress

I vauguely remember wearing reversible dresses as a child. My mom was (and is) quite the seamstress. She made my sister and I many halters and smock dresses. What I’m wondering is why didn’t that concept catch on for women? Would it really be that difficult to make a reversible, fashionable dress for women? Hmmm.

Anyway, for now I’ll rave about this beauty for little girls. This is the Reversible Smock Dress for toddlers and youths. It’s a wonderful vintage-inspired look featuring retrolicious prints. It buttons at the shoulders. Easy-fitting and adorable. Cotton. Machine wash. Made in USA and imported. It’s $48 at Chasing Fireflies!

Droolicious: Cool Things for Baby

Sorry it’s been a little while between posts. MommyQ and DaddyQ took a much-needed vacation before the Back-To-School season officially begins. Good friends, great food, lots of laughs and meaningful moments. In other words, perfection.

As some of my readers may know, I also write for Babble’s unique blog about baby products, Droolicious. Yes, the team at Drool is always seeking out the most fabulous baby items in town. If you haven’t been, take a few minutes to visit. You will love it! Here are a few things to whet your shopping whistle…
